My error is similar to this forum post except my GPU is a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. I selected 'nvidia-driver-390 (recommended)' but the installation failed, apparently due to dependencies. I then followed the release notes in an attempt to install the required Nvidia drivers. exe file and follow the install instructions. I think this was an issue with my Nvidia graphics card and found several solutions that suggested I use nomodeset in the Grub boot preferences - which allowed me to boot successfully. There, add the requested info about your GPU model and your Opperating System and scan for the latest version for your specs. I then experienced issues booting into Mint in which I would experience a black screen and cursor after login. I was able to fix this by not connecting to WiFi during install (a solution that I think I found on a Linux Mint forum but can't really remember).

On install I experienced several failed attempts due to Mint being unable to install grub 2.0. Reinstall the NVIDIA Geforce display driver or the NVIDIA Geforce Experience installation process again as you did before.
